About
I'm Steve. I live in Bend, Oregon, and I run Claim Brief on my own. I've worked in finance, tech, and the outdoor industry, and I've taught breathing and mindfulness.
I've used AI most days since 2023. Before that, I spent years paying people to build things for my businesses, often with little to show for it. As a small business owner these days, I can do so much more myself. That came from using the tools, not reading about them. I'm building Claim Brief with the help of these same tools, including the site and videos you're looking at. But a lot of people meet AI through the headlines, and there's no shortage of doom and gloom. What's harder to find is where those headlines came from, and what they mean for you, your job, and the decisions in front of you.
That's what I do at Claim Brief. When an AI claim is going around, I find who said it first, check it against the source, and tell you what it actually shows. Sometimes it holds up. Sometimes it's true but not what you think. Sometimes nobody knows yet, and I'll say so.
Here's what sits under all of it: nobody knows how this AI story plays out, including the people shouting. What you can control is whether you're the person in your job, your job search, or your business who knows how to use the tools. That's the part I can help with.
A few things you should know. I use Claude, made by Anthropic, in my work. When a claim involves Anthropic, Claude, or any tool I use, I say so. I don't have affiliate links or sponsorships. I don't tell anyone how to vote, and nothing here is financial, legal, or career advice. When I get something wrong, I post a correction. I don't delete.
Claim Brief · @claimbrief — where AI claims come from, and whether they hold up. Comment or DM me a claim. It might be the next one I check. Want it set up live, with a safety check for your situation?
